| Ask LJ Land |
[Jan. 14th, 2008|04:51 pm] |
Dear LJ Land,
What can I do for a really nice, retired neighbor who plows my driveway without me asking because he is home all day and likes riding his tractor in the snow?
Sincerely, MightyOne |

| I could be crazy |
[Dec. 19th, 2007|09:25 am] |
So the Wachusett overnight thing is on Feb 29 this year, which is the Friday of Intercon.
I could go to Intercon, then go to Wachusett to snowboard all night, then back to Intercon on Saturday. Maybe sleeping in there sometime.
Is that crazy of me? |

| Bamboo Flooring |
[Dec. 10th, 2007|02:10 pm] |
Do any of my carpenter friends (or anyone for that matter) have expierence with Bamboo flooring? goldenoak and I have been looking at it as a possibility for our house. I have been doing some reading on line and am now not sure how good it is, so I thought I would throw the question out there.
Also, as a note, don't ever order anything installed from Home Depot. There are many, many posts on line about how their contractors screwed things up and HD won't even talk to their customers about it. |

| Wireless Internet |
[Nov. 21st, 2007|10:19 am] |
Does anyone have any recommendations for a wireless router? We are thinking of getting one but don't know anything about it.
We have a cable modem and a regular plug in router currently. |

| Reposted: Oct 28th: A&S Day |
[Oct. 8th, 2007|05:39 pm] |
Sunday October 28th (Not the 21st) I will be teaching (demonstrating? / showing?) pewter casting for lady_cassia's now bi-monthly A&S day.
Please let me know if you are going so I can prepare some materials.
EDIT: For anyone who wants to get their own supplies for casting, here are some useful links I have saved.
I get Pewter from Rio Grande. I suggest ordering a cataloge, beacuse they do not do web orders without one. Pewter is in the "Tools and Equipment" cataloge.
Soap stone can be purchased from Lee Valley.
You will also need a pot to melt pewter in. I use something similar to this, and a ladle similar to this. |

| Oct 21st A&S Day |
[Oct. 5th, 2007|11:08 am] |
Sunday October 21st I will be teaching (demonstrating? / showing?) pewter casting for lady_cassia's now bi-monthly A&S day.
I may be able to have enough materials for people to carve and cast their own little trinket thingies, but I would like to get an idea of who may be there.
claidheamh, I know you asked about it at Pennsic. Any one else? |

| Stuck at Work |
[Oct. 3rd, 2007|07:21 pm] |
7:21
Still at work.
Waiting for maintenance machinist to adjust assembly fixture so I can verify it by measuring it on the Smart Scope™.
Must be within ±0.001".
The internets says the average human hair is about 0.004" thick.
I want to go home.
EDIT: 8:12 Home now. Yay! |

| It's a Porch. Ahh! |
[Sep. 30th, 2007|03:34 pm] |
Got the deck put on my porch today. Had to squeeze in the last board to get everything to fit, but it did.
Pictures Here
It was really nice to have an electrical outlet *right* there for running power tools.
The steps and the railing will come later, as well as fixing the trim work and painting / staining everything.
I will also have to figure out what to cover the open side with to block the view underneath. It used to have lattice framed in there, but that was sitting on the ground and starting to rot. The lattice on the other porch already rotted out. Home Depot has plastic lattice, but I am not convinced I want to use plastic. Maybe I will make something out of more pressure treated wood. Will have to decide later. |

| Endgame |
[Sep. 17th, 2007|12:55 pm] |
Note to self: Sleeping on the benches in the tavern = Bad Idea.
Endgame was fun. I felt off for most of the weekend. I think staying up too late on Friday night was the reason.
Had a loooong walk back to camp by myself on Saturday night after I was killed. Even with the Paths, Mexico is a long way away. But wow, I died. That's kinda cool.
RP experiment for "Shaken" gone awry. Second note to self: Don't RP angry.
Ate too much junk food. Still no Dented Can Roulette.
I need to define my character more so I can figure out how to deal with / react to the Big Secret that was revealed.
I are too much of a stick jock. I would be happy with just a sword and shield and nothing else, but I feel like I miss out on soo much other stuff. Third note to self: Need to role play more with others. |

Since goldenoak will be lost in Harry Potter land this weekend, what should I do?
Whatever I want, I think.

| Two Questions on Home Maintenance |
[Jul. 16th, 2007|07:04 pm] |
This is not a meme (although I suppose it could be if you ask me questions back).
1) What is the best way to kill and remove wasp nests from under the 2nd floor eaves? (about 20 fth up) I believe one nest is in the vent for the large bathroom fan.
2) Is it easy to replace the stem on a tubless tractor tire by yourself or better to bring it to a dealer/garage? |
